I’m a sucker for a good roasted veggie, especially brussels sprouts. My mother in law always prepares a pan of roasted brussels sprouts for Thanksgiving and I’m always the first in line to grab a bunch. Inspired by her recipe, I decided to make my brussels sprouts in the air fryer and add my own little Korean inspired sauce to them.
I love making Asian foods in my Air Fryer, like this Healthier General Tso's Chicken in the Air fryer and this Crispy Korean Air Fried Chicken Wings. It was just natural that I would follow the same path when it came to these brussels.
How to buy and prepare brussels sprouts?
I like to use fresh brussels sprouts for roasting, not frozen. If I can find brussels sprouts on the vine, I buy those. But usually I can’t, so I just pick up the fresh brussels sprouts in my supermarket.
You’ll also want to make sure you thoroughly wash and dry your sprouts before air frying. Here’s a great guide on how to pick and prepare brussels sprouts.
How do you cook brussels sprouts in the Air Fryer?
When cooking brussels sprouts in the Air fryer, you want to cook it a lower temperature of 360 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15 minutes. I find that this is the best temperature to allow your brussels sprouts to get tender on the inside and develop a nice crisp on the outside. If you want your brussels sprouts even crispier, bump the heat up to 390 degrees Fahrenheit at the end for an additional 5 minutes.
This recipe for brussels sprouts can be modified if you choose to have brussels sprouts without the korean gochujang sauce. I would advice still using oil. I use a little bit of oil on all of my air fried vegetables to give them that nice crisp. I’ve got this info and more in my 10 Air Fryer tips every owner should know post.
I hope you enjoy this Air Brussels Sprouts recipe as much as we do. Until next time...

what in the world is gochujang? how do I make it or bye it?
Tanya says
Hi Alphonse, it's a spicy Korean chili paste. I get mine from my local Asian market but they sell it online too.

Just got my first air fryer and had Brussels sprouts to use. So glad I found this recipe! The sprouts were perfectly crispy on the outside while tender in the center. And the sauce...wow! Perfect balance of sweet and spicy. Can’t wait to try more of your air fryer recipes. Thanks!

I NEVER have left a food review before, but these were amazing and so simple. Definitely on our dinner rotation now!! Thank you so much!
Joanne says
Can frozen brussel sprouts be used and how? Thanks
Tanya says
Hi Joanne, I've never used frozen brussels sprouts. I'm sure they can be but I honestly wouldn't know if the results would be as crispy.
Joel says
We have made these twice now. The first time I didn’t have the gochujang and used siracha. I got some gochujang for another recipe and used it on the second batch. My recommendation is go get some gochujang, you won’t regret it. These are simply amazing.
We have found so many uses for our air fryer and these Brussels Sprouts will definitely be a regular.

Hi Air Fryers,
I’ve tried several of the Tanya collection recipes, and this one is great. I have a question and want to leave a few pointers.
Q: if a recipe does NOT say to PREHEAT, should I omit that step?
My experiences:
1. The sprouts shrink up quite a bit, so in my fryer, I could have used the whole pound of sprouts at once. When they finish, there’s plenty of space.
2. I did not have any gochujang in the house, so I just used hot sauce, which seemed to work fine. I’ll try to find the called for paste at an Asian market.
3. At first, I removed any leaves that fell off. They do get rather crispy, but we ended up liking them, so whoever falls off just gets crisped and eaten with the big guys.
4. A local Middle Eastern restaurant makes a similar dish but uses a real deep fryer. They have a secret ingredient, apricot jam. What the heck, I put a couple of TBSPs in the recipe and liked the result.
Thanks to Tanya for all of this great stuff. I’m enjoying the cooking this way, and I’m even a guy!
Tanya says
Hi Robert, yes, If I don't list preheat as a step that you can omit that step. To be honest, since most air fryers heat up so quickly, preheating isn't as critical as it would be when it comes to a traditional oven. I do like to preheat for certain recipes, like steak, burgers, and pork chops, because I like to hear the sizzle when the food touches the air fryer grates. Also, that apricot jam mixed with the brussels sounds delicious. I think I may need to give that a try. Thanks for the suggestion 🙂
Amy N says
Oh my gosh!! Just tried these for my family and it was a huge hit!! Sweet and spicey...and SO DELISH!! Wish we had more Brussels sprouts at home so that we could make a second batch!!

Your website is absolutely amazing! I was wondering what to do with my fresh Brussels sprouts and I found your recipe. I also just bought a big tub of gochujang Chile paste and wondered how I could use it. Your recipe came just in time! Thanks for helping me appreciate how great an air fryer can be!

Kathy KG says
Very easy! I halved the oil to keep calories lower! I also reduced the cooking time in my air fryer because they crisped up quickly! Very delicious!
Tanya says
Yay! So glad you enjoyed the recipe. I agree, so easy 🙂
Jason says
Can I substitute Sriracha for Gochujang? I don't want to buy a whole tub of Gochujang just for this recipe.
Any alternatives for Gochujang?
Tanya says
Yes, Siracha will work fine and still give you that great sweet and spicy combo.
Janet says
I can buy small bottles of gochujang and I use it frequently to add a very complex spicy flavor.
Mary Lee Kopen says
The vegetable is spelled Brussels sprouts. These tiny cabbage-like vegetables are named after the Belgian city of Brussels, which has an “S” on the end. The correct spelling is “Brussels sprout.”
Tanya says
Thanks for letting me know, I've updated the post 🙂
Donna Flanagan says
@Mary Lee Kopen, Unnecessary to correct spelling. Just saying
Ann says
@Donna Flanagan, Agreed.
I have an undergrad degree in Linguistics and grad degree in English and taught for 30 years... but as I always told students, grammar nazis on social media are just annoying and devoid of more salient points.
That said, the little history-geography lesson made the spelling tip a bit more useful.
Wendy says
I love how crispy they get in the air fryer! The almost burned pieces are my favorite- almost like a spicy chip.
