I’ve been having fun making homemade ice cream, and I wanted to share this one. Grape Nut ice cream is a special dessert with Jamaican roots. It combines creamy ice cream with crunchy Grape Nut cereal, and people love its unique taste.

Adding the cereal gives this ice cream a wonderful crunch that pairs perfectly with the creamy base. I used the well-known no-churn ice cream base of heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract for this ice cream recipe. I then added the cereal to the ice cream base before freezing it solid.

Grape Nut cereal is slightly nutty and not overly sweet, making it the perfect complement to the ice cream’s sweet base. It also remains crunchy after you add it to the base.

This is perfect for those who enjoy a crunchy texture in their ice cream. It’s also a fun way to switch up your usual ice cream routine.

Ingredients Needed (Full Ingredient Amounts in the recipe card below)

  • No churn ice cream base ingredients – heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract.
  • Grape Nut cereal – This crunchy cereal provides the perfect crunch with no added sweetness. The cereal stays crunchy even after being added to the creamy ice cream base.

How to make Grape Nut Ice Cream

No ice cream maker is needed for this recipe.

In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to whip the cold, heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until well combined.

Fold in the cereal and stir until evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

Pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container (such as a large loaf pan). Lay plastic wrap on top of the ice cream to avoid freezer burn. Cover the container and freeze for at least 6 hours or until solid.

Once frozen, let the ice cream sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften slightly before scooping and serving.

How to Store

To store, transfer it to an airtight container, place plastic wrap directly on the surface, and keep it in the coldest part of the freezer. Label and date the container, use within 1-2 weeks and let it soften briefly at room temperature before serving.
