I’m a huge fan of making steak in my air fryer and I’m known for making it all kinds of ways in my Air Fryer. I’ve done ribeye to serve alongside fries and salad, steak kebabs in the air fryer, and now I present air fryer steak fajitas.
This is one of those recipes that have come in handy on out taco Tuesdays weeknights. Aside from the marinating, it’s quick and easy and clean up is a breeze. I’m sure it’s a recipe you’ll add to your dinner rotations as well.
How to make steak fajitas in your Air Fryer?
For my steak fajitas, I like to do a marinade rather than a dry rub. I like my steak pieces to be tender and full of flavor and I found that a marinade made with pineapple juice, lime juice, olive oil, soy sauce, and other spices gave the best flavor. Also, pineapple juice is known to tenderize steak.
Add the marinade ingredients to steak that has been sliced against the grain. I use either flank steak or top sirloin, although I tend to prefer flank for this recipe. Flank is just pricier but either will work. Place your steak in the refrigerator and allow it to marinate for 2-4 hours.
When your ready to cook, remove your steak from the refrigerator. Slice your peppers and onions. Place in the air fryer on top of a piece of foil paper that is the size of your air fryer basket. Spray the vegetables with oil and season with a little salt and pepper. Close the air fryer basket and cook at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, stir the peppers and place the steak pieces on top of the peppers and onions, making sure they are evenly spread on top. Close the air fryer basket and cook for 7 minutes at 400 degrees.
Open and stir and serve over tortillas with your favorite toppings. We usually stick with cheese, cilantro, a squeeze of lime juice, and sour cream.
I hope you enjoy these steak fajita recipe as much as we do.

I loooove this recipe! So easy and delicious! 🥰
Tanya says
Thank you Susan 🙂
Kelly says
Could you cut everything up, season and then freeze it to use when you want
Tanya says
Hi Kelly, I haven't done that yet. My only concern would be freezing it in this marinade with the lime juice and I'm not sure how the peppers would hold up.
jude says
can you recommend a jar marinate. thanks
Tanya says
Hi Jude, Unfortunately, I've actually never used a jar marinade for fajitas.
Donna says
Why such a small amount of bell peppers in this recipe? With 1.5 lbs of beef- this recipe should call for more than just 1 pepper in my humble opinion. But I’ll just add more when I make it
Sara says
Am I to assume you drain steak and discard the marinade when steak is added to air fryer? This sounds delicious, can't wait to try
Tanya says
That's correct. I just pick the steak up with tongs and add it to the top of the peppers and discard the marinade.
Amber says
Sounds like if you used the marinade to cook in that you'd have more of a stewed birria type.
Cheri Friedman says
Hi! Can you marinate the steak for more than 4 hours? Thanks!!
Tanya says
Hi Cheri, yes you can. I have. But I'm too afraid to go much longer lol. So I haven't gone longer than 8 hrs with the marinade.
Patti says
Thank you for this delicious and VERY easy recipe. My family raves about it.
Bethany says
I'm a fan of steak, my husband chicken..can I marinate the chicken and steak in the same marinade (separate bags) and just start cooking the chicken at the same time as the veggies and then add the steak at the normal time?
Tanya says
Hi Bethany, small cuts of chicken will take about 10-13 minutes, so I would add the chicken when there is about that much time left.
Patricia Johnson says
My family loved the steak fajitas! So juicy and so much flavor! Yummy yummy! This was the first recipe I cooked with my new air fryer. You guys have to prepare it 😉
Leo B says
Looks great! Is the foil used just to keep the cleanup job a little easier or does it impact the cooking? I have a Ninja Foodi air fryer that has a "crisp plate" that sits at the bottom and helps "char" the food.
Tanya says
Hi Leo B, Thank you. I use the foil so that the liquid from the peppers and onions doesn't drip to the bottom. It helps keep the fajitas nice and juicy. The crisp plate should work fine if it doesn't have holes in it.
Sarah L says
My first time and my first recipe with my new air fryer. It was absolutely delicious. And easy! I got up to grab a napkin and my dog ate my second one. So it’s dog approved too! Thanks for the awesome marinade, I had all the spices already, just had to get some pineapple juice (wish they sold it in smaller containers-I have pineapple juice for days now) and a lime and I was good to go! Delicious, thank you!
Tanya says
Hi Sarah, so glad you liked the recipe. They sell the 6 pack cans of pineapple juice in some stores. I actually used a can today to make a small drink lol. Those work great so you don't have lots of excess juice.
Susan says
@Sarah L, I have used the juice from a can of pineapple rings then char the rings in butter in a nonstick skillet. They taste great on the fajitas 🙂
@Tanya, Thanks for the great recipe!
Sharon says
@Sarah I, too forgot the pineapple juice…juice from a flat can of crushed pineapple saved me…. Almost exactly was 1.4 cup
Chris says
@Sarah L, I have found small cans of pineapple juice at a liquor store with the muxes.
Jovan says
Awesome marinade! Made this recipe for my weekly meal prep this week. I used flank steak and the marinade was amazing. For meal prep, I cooked everything a little less time since I'll be reheating it later in the week. Definitely delicious for meal prep (or leftovers!).
Tiffany says
These are delish! Has anyone used OJ in place of the pineapple juice? I have OJ that I need to use.
