Lamb is one of my favorite meats! It has a robust taste that is slightly gamey and grassy and makes a welcome change from beef or chicken.
When cooked in the air fryer, these lamb chops are so succulent and have a nice crust to them. They come out perfectly cooked and I love that they are ready to serve in minutes!

How to make air fryer lamb chops
- Combine lamb chops, olive oil, red wine vinegar, rosemary, oregano, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper in a bowl. Rub the marinade into the meat and cover and chill for 1 hour.
- Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Add lamb chops to the air fryer basket.
- Cook for 7-9 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Serve them as is or cover them with this delicious homemade chimichurri sauce.
How do you know when the lamb is cooked?
Cooking the lamb chops in the air fryer will take between 7 and 9 minutes. The easiest way to make sure it is cooked to your liking is to use an Instant read thermometer. At 120F they will be rare, 130F is medium and over 145F is well done.
When cooked past medium, the gamey flavor of the lamb becomes more pronounced.
How long can you marinate the lamb?
Lamb chops are fairly tender, and because we use red wine vinegar in the marinade, they don't need to be prepped too far ahead of time. I find an hour of marinating works perfectly, but you can leave them for up to 5 hours. If you leave them longer than that, the acid can start to break down the fibers too much and your lamb can turn out tough.
What so you serve with them?
These air fried lamb chops are perfect to serve as a quick and easy weeknight meal, but fancy enough to serve to guests and they make for an excellent Easter meal. They are great with all kinds of veggie and potato sides. Try them with:
Recipe Notes and Tips
- The temperature of the lamb should reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit for medium-well.
- The cut of lamb makes a difference in the gaminess of the lamb. Lamb Leg Chops will have less of a gamey flavor but they usually are more expensive.
- This lamb recipe is great accompanied with a homemade chimichurri sauce.

So many great comments but these turned out to be mediocre. I think they would have benefitted from honey and fresh herbs, perhaps a pinch of cinnamon. At 400 degrees, the exterior was well done and the interior was almost med/rare borderline rare. I think that red wine vinegar "cooks" the outer meat while marinading. In the future, I'll leave out the acid, just use oil, salt/pepper herbs and sweetener - honey or fruit preserves. Lamb loin chops are so easy to make in an air fryer, but I won't be making this recipe again or using vinegar in my lamb marinades. My favorite has always been apricot jelly and garlic and salt and pepper.

Hi Alexandra, the small amount of vinegar in this marinade wouldn't cook the lamb. It's likely the temp and the thickness of your lamb that resulted in your outside cooking faster than then inside. The addition of sweetner is new to me, but sounds delicous as well.

This recipe is perfect, and I didn't even follow the recipe because I didn't have red wine vinegar (thought I did). I ended up using Italian dressing for the marinade. I also needed to cook them an additional 3-4 mins, because I found out that I prefer the chops medium-well, and following the timing given in the recipe yielded medium-rare. Nevertheless, this saved my life because I was resolved to make lamb chops for my husband's b-day, but had no idea how to cook them. I looked up some pan searing recipes but was nervous about overcooking because I don't have a reliable meat thermometer. It finally occurred to me to google whether I could cook them in an air fryer, and this recipe came up. Based on the comments from other cooks, it seemed like it would work great and it did! Last thing I wanted was to overcook the 30 bucks of chops that I bought for hubby's b-day. They came out so nicely seared but still juicy on the inside. Thank you so much!

The perfect air fryer recipe. Been using it for the last year. Turns out great every time. Easy to make. Mariade is perfect. I am fortunate to be able to get lamb in an area where lamb is not popular and very expensive. My Mom loved this recipe. Works every time.
