Chocolate. It’s my weakness. And if I could, I would make a huge batch of brownies and eat the whole pan to myself. But society tells me that’s a bad idea. Thanks to my Air Fryer, I can make a small batch of brownies suitable for 4 (I’ll share with hubby and the kids) that won’t heat up the entire house. That’s where these brownies in the Air Fryer come in handy.
After making S’mores on my Air Fryer, I was hooked on creating simple and easy dessert recipes in my Air Fryer. These brownies are so simple yet delicious and they can be made in one bowl.
When it comes to baking in your Air Fryer, you will need the following guideline:
- Use smaller tools. 7-inch pans or smaller come in handy when baking in the Air Fryer. Certain Air Fryer Accessory kits have smaller pans for baking.
- Reduce the temperature and time for baking in the Air Fryer. The general rule of thumb is to reduce by 30 degrees and cut time by 20%. These tips and others can be found in my Air Fryer Tips and Tricks post.
- Cut recipes in half. Since Air Fryers are smaller than your oven, trying to convert an entire cake or brownie recipe may not work. Cut it in half should ensure that your baked goods get baked perfectly.
How to make Air Fryer Brownies
First, prepare your 7-inch baking pan by generously greasing with butter on the bottom and all sides. Set aside.
Preheat your Air Fryer by setting the temperature to 330 degrees Fahrenheit and allowing it to run for about 5 minutes while you prepare your brownie batter.
Add your all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, melted butter, sugar, eggs, vegetable oil, salt, baking powder, and vanilla extract into a large bowl and stir until thoroughly combined. Your batter should be thick.
Add it to the prepared baking pan and smooth out the top.
Place in your preheated Air Fryer and bake for 15 minutes or until a toothpick entered in the center comes out mostly clean.
Remove and allow to cool in the pan before removing and cutting.
You can add in your favorite nuts before baking if you like. The kids don't generally like them so i usually leave them out. But ¼ cup of walnuts added to this brownie mixture is a dream come true.

I hope you enjoy this brownie recipe as much as we do.

Jenny says
Yum! These are so good! I have a very small air fryer so I halved the recipe and baked it in a mini loaf pan - came out perfect!

I am new to using an AirFryer. I tried this recipe this evening. I added chopped pecans and it turned out perfect. I used an aluminum round pan that was well buttered.
I look forward to see more dessert recipes for the Air Fryer.
Andry says
Hey, thanks for the recipe. Tried it last weekend for a house party and it tastes wonderful.
One question though, my brownie came out bigger and got a weird crack in the middle. Any way to prevent that to happen?
Tanya says
Hi Andry, by came out bigger, do you mean it got higher? My guess is that it may have been overmixed. That may explain the crack.

Since I found this recipe a little over a month ago, I have made it 5 times. It’s so simple and quick. I have a Cosori and have had some trouble getting the timing right. I use a rack to elevate the pan and that seems to help. Overall, it’s a great recipe and we enjoy experimenting- even eating the failures!
Tanya says
Thank you Jennie! Oh, the failures are amazing over ice cream 🙂
Seth says
Ok. I have the Power-Air-Fryer Pro and can fit an 8” pan.what would you say to increasing the recipe 50%? 50% more time?
Famma says
Hey i am going to try this recipe soon. I want to know if i can use melted chocolate instead of cocoa powder. Can you tell me how much i should use and what adjustments i have to make in the recipe. Thank you.
Tanya says
You can, but exact measurements I'm not absolutely sure on. You can try using 2 ounces of melted chocolate to sub for the cocoa powder and reducing the butter by 2 Tbsp.

I have a fairly new air fryer oven (heat index 104 here in FL it helps keep the house cooler) and while cooking is great, baking has not been very successful until your recipe today! It was so easy and yummy. I loved it! What was great about your recipe the measurements already were scaled down to fit a small pan and small oven. Thanks it made baking fun today!
Tanya says
Thanks so much Eileen! So glad you enjoyed this recipe 🙂
Lizzie says
I love these brownies! Perfect for my hubby and I. Wondering if you have a recipe for a small batch of frosting to go on top? Thanks!
Tanya says
Thanks so much Lizzie! I don't yet, but that is a great idea!
Hallie says
Hi! I don't have a pan to put the batter in--do you think it would still work if I made a makeshift "pan" out of aluminum foil then greased the foil and spread the batter in that? Thanks!
Tanya says
Hi Hallie, my only concern would be the fan blowing the batter and having is spread outside of the foil. It may work if the foil is strong and sturdy.
Koe says
Absolutely in LOVE with this recipe! But the center usually comes out a bit too undercooked, how should I fix this without the edge losing its softness and moisture? So far i've just cut out the edges and put the center back in the fryer to cook longer but that's troublesome. I also used the baking pan that my Philips AF came with.
Tanya says
Hi Koe, I think a few more minutes until the center sets shouldn't overcook the edges. I'd probably add a minute or two and see if that fixes it. How long do you have to put it in after cutting the edges?
Koe says
@Tanya, I let the center cook for 2-3 minutes more after cutting out the edges. I did what you suggested and it came out perfect 🙂 my go-to AF brownie recipe. Thanks so much! cheers!

I have an Emerald Air Fryer 360 and I am learning to work with trail and error for times and temp. This is a great recipe, it is in the air fryer right now.... using the bake setting..will try the air fryer setting next batch.. Learning curve since I am a traditional baker....thank you.... I am going to hope on board and follow .....have a great night.
May says
Hi Tanya,
I plan on purchasing the 3.2 at Faberware like the one you have. To make the brownies I already have 6 x 3 pans and
8 x 3 pans. I dont have a 7 inch one. Can i use either of the 6 inch or 8 inch ones instead? Will they fit inside the 3.2 at air fryer? Any adjustments to temperature or baking time?
Thank you
Tanya says
Hi May, the 6inch one should fit, the 8 inch one isn't likely to fit in that air fryer. I'd keep the temperature the same but start to check on the brownies a few minutes earlier so they don't overbake.
