Air Fryers are amazing kithcen devices and there is so much you can do with them. I bet you're wondering which accessories for your Air Fryer are worth it and which ones aren't really useful. I've got you covered with this list of Air Fryer Accesories that are worth your money.

- An Air Fryer Accessory Kit - Rather than buying accessories piece by piece, this kit has a ton of pieces in one package to get you started. There are a ton of kits like these on Amazon to choose from. Just make sure you check out the specs to ensure that the pieces will fit the size of your Air Fryer. I also use some of the pieces in my Instant Pot Pressure Cooker and my Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker with Air Crisp.

2. A Spray Bottle for Oil - I love love love my spray bottle. I bought this bright blue spray bottle a while ago and it works wonders, although it's been hard to find lately. However, the Evo brand spray bottles work just as well. Most commercial sprays aren’t good for your Air Fryer. Overtime, these can fade the protective coating on most Air Fryer baskets. I recommend investing in a good quality spray bottle for spritzing your food. Great thing is, you can use the spray bottle for other kitchen cooking. I use it for spritzing my regular pans when I am cooking on the stove.
I'm able to get my Air Fryer Steaks perfect by checking the temperature with my Thermapen 4k quick read thermometer.
5. Grill Tray Attachment - Some Air Fryers brands come with a grill tray attachment (Phillips and GoWise have one). Rather than placing the whole basket in the Air Fryer, you can place food on the grill attachment. Admittedly, I first thought this was useless...but it’s the best thing ever when cooking steaks, burgers, and fish. It’s also easier to clean than the basket and makes food flipping easier. Check out my Air Fryer Steak Kebab or Air Fryer Meatloaf recipes to see it in action.
If buying, make sure you are purchasing the right grill tray that matches your Air Fryer brand.

6. Heat Resistant Tongs - Most food cooked in the Air Fryer will need to be flipped halfway through. Having a set of quality tongs is helpful. I like to use plastic ones that are heat resistant to avoid scratching the surface of my Air Fryer basket.
7. Pie Weight Chain - Since the Air Fryer has a strong fan that circulates air within the device, some smaller lightweight items are known to fly around. A great suggestion given to me by one of my readers is to invest in pie chain to hold the smaller items down in the Air Fryer. It's pretty genuis. You can see that tip and other helpful ones on this 10 Air Fryer Tips Post.
8. A Good Air Fryer Cookbook -I love having a good quality cookbook that I can use with my appliances. Here's two cookbooks that I think are great for new owners to have, Air Fry Everything by The Blue Jean Chef and The Super Easy Air Fryer Cookbook: Crave-Worthy Recipes for Healthier Fried Favorites by Brandi Crawford. Both books have a ton of great recipes for trying with your Air Fryer.
9. Platinum 4x More Dawn Dish Soap - If you're like me and cook a lot of meats in your Air Fryer, the grease can be a nightmare to get off. I like to soak mine in this strong Dawn to get the grease to come right off.
10. An Air Fryer Cooking Chart - A handy reference chart is helpful when figuring out cooktimes. This is great for when deciding how long to cook certain meats and vegetables in your Air Fryer. The fact that it's magnetic is another plus.

KIMBERLEY SABOURIN says
I have an air fryer oven and would like info on cleaning the area ubove the fan. It gets covered with grease and I can't get a cloth into clean. Should I just turn it upside down and see if there are screws I could remove to remove the element to clean that area? Mine is not teflon. Is there a produce I can use get it clean?
Tanya says
HI Kimberley, the air fryer ovens are a bit more difficult to clean, especially if cooking greasy foods. Here's an article that breaks down cleaning with some products. https://www.staysnatched.com/how-to-clean-your-air-fryer/
Cindy says
what do you put in your spray bottle to spray food

Tanya says
Any oil with a high smoke point that I have on hand. I usually use avocado, canola, or a light-tasting olive oil.
Cindy says
@Tanya, thanks

I have a round air fryer with a basket and I like to cook meat with a sauce and it drips in the pan that holds the basket, is there anything I can use in the pan to catch the drips. Clean up is a mess sometimes.
Tanya says
Hi Judy, I've heard of people lining that bottom pan with foil to catch the drips. I have not tried it myself but it sounds like a great idea.

Having just begun to research the purchase and use of an air fryer, I believe Tanya's site will prove invaluable to me with its plethora of information.
Patty Chinn says
My neighbor's fryer came with a little short basket, mine came with a basket on the rotisserie rod. I like to have the basket that just sets on a shelf.
Cindy says
I believe you meant to say admittedly rather than Ammidtantly?
Tanya says
Yes, you are correct. Fixed it. Thank you 🙂
Paula says
@Tanya, autocorrect strikes again. 🙂
Patty says
Are you kidding? You are recommending a thermometer that cost more than the air fryer??!!! And I have had mine for over a year, using it almost every day, with no problem so it's not a cheap one.
Tanya says
I'm not kidding you. I love my Thermoworks thermometer and I use it for more than just the air fryer, my husband uses it for grilling, and he's left it outside...in the rain, and it still works great lol. Which thermometer do you use? I'm sure there are many fine ones on the market.
Mona S Wachsler says
@Patty, I second Tanya's "No I'm not kidding"...Thermapen is the best out there,...it just is. Mine is probably 13-15 years old and still going strong. These are professional thermometers that are extremely accurate and outlast inferior thermometers. (I've owned plenty of those duds before Themapen)
I have given many Thermapens for gifts to many who didn't know about them. Each and every one of the recipients have fallen in love.
Hope you have many years of longevity with yours, but if it fails, endulge yourself with the best. For me, it's worth paying the extra price for a thermometer that is going to give me years of accurate performance, instantly.
Vicki L Bowenschulte says
I recently got a small air fryer 1.6 and would love to try a cake. I did buy the accessories for it. My problem is how much cake batter to put into the cake pan? I would love to try a pineapple upside down cake but I don't want to have batter all over the inside. I bought a Jiffy Brand cake mix which would make about a one layer cake. Still I hesitate.
Karin says
@Vicki L Bowenschulte, both my mom and I have had great luck with metal top pump oil dispensers (the kind where you pump the lid up and down to 'aresolize' the oil you spray, like the Misto brand). They've both worked for years, with many trips through the dish washer (for pieces that can go in, that is). I know it's not the style @Tayna recommends, but they've worked perfectly for us.
Kathy Soule says
I have a real problem with spray bottles. They work fine until it's empty. Wash it real good and refill. After 1 refill the sprayer goes everywhere except for where it's supposed to go Right now I have the Evo plastic bottle. The olive oil is coming out the sides all over the place. I've bought 2 and neither 1 works after filling. The next one I'm interested in is the stainless steel but afraid to buy another 1. Why can't I go to the $$$ store and buy just a regular spray bottle.
Cindy says
@Kathy Soule, I have the same problem! They never last past the first use.
Bobbie Arentzoff says
@Kathy Soule, Did you get an answer to this? Since two of you have written about this problem, I'm sure lots of others have had it. I hesitate to buy a "good" spray bottle if they all act the same.
Bobbie Arentzoff says
@Cindy, Did you get an answer to this? I'm sure others have this problem too. I hesitate to buy a "good" spray bottle if I'm going to just throw it away when empty.
Linda says
I purchased one from Magic Chef many many years ago and they had the same problem back then. I thought by now that problem would. be solved!
judy smith says
@Bobbie Arentzoff, I bought an expensive mist bottle because I wanted to mist olive oil over chicken parts. I made two squirts with it and than it sprayed a stream, it would not mist again. I have a dollar store spray bottle that worked good so don't think the high price one are better than the cheap ones.

My first attempt with my new air fryer was wings. Followed the recipe in the book that came with the fryer. Dried them, drenched them in flour, then hot sauce and finally Panko. Book called for 25 minutes at 400 degrees. They came out burnt and were obviously cooked through. Tried another batch at 300 and 12 minutes- I then flipped them and cooked for another 12 minutes. Success. Since this is new I will continue to experiment.Appreciate your tips and find them very useful.
Tanya says
Oh wow. That's such a great example about how air fryers can vary. I'm glad you were willing to give the wings another try. Wings are one of my favorite things to make in an air fryer.
Kathy Soule says
No need to drench them in flour. I use 3T of flour and 2 tsp baking powder. I perfer a bowl instead of a baggie. Easier to coat. Not sure of the measurements. air fryer at 360 for about 25-30 minutes flipping them every 10 minutes. The criispest wings EVER.
Toni Atchison says
I just got an air fryer, and think this might be the best investment I've made in a very long time. Yes, there is a little bit of a learning curve, but I'm getting better, lol.
Thanks for the info on the accessories! I had no idea they existed but now I'm looking to add some and get back to really cooking again!
Tanya says
Yes, you will love them, especially if you use your air fryer often.
Charlene Pillar says
Thanks for the tips, i have already gone to Amazon and purchased several accessories you mentioned. Can't wait to continue cooking with my fryer.
